IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING GOOD AT SOMETHING, IT'S ABOUT BEING GOOD TO YOURSELF!

I’ve only been a yoga teacher for a couple of years - gaining my Bikram qualification in Mexico in 2018. But I’ve already racked up a few hundred classes all over Switzerland since then, and that’s allowed me to get some valuable insight into how people think. What people tend to underestimate about yoga is the impact it has on your psychological wellbeing. To me this is even more valuable than simply getting in shape. It’s true, if you want to get ripped basically overnight, this is easily the fastest and best way to do it. But amazing things happen along the way to getting that killer beach body, or recovering that flat stomach after pregnancy, or whatever the goal may be. As you start getting into the hot yoga program, you slowly begin to feel more alert in the mornings. You sleep better. You’re happier. You perform well. At work, at tennis or judo or mountain-biking or baking cakes or piano playing. You start getting along with people better. You don’t snap like you used to. All your stress just evaporates along with your sweat in the hot room. Yoga – especially hot yoga – gives people longevity because of the physiological and mental processes it unlocks. It sounds cliché but it really is the solution to everything. My story isn’t unique – I went the Bikram route after giving birth, like a lot of people do. Then I just felt the draw of teaching.
